Overall, the video game brings a lot of new elements and improvements to the series, but it also retains some familiar issues. The core fighting is great thanks to the excellent Kameo Fighter system and increased pace. The return of PS2-era fighters is equally fantastic. But sadly, compared to Street Fighter 6, the selection of modes and character-specific training options on Mortal Kombat 1 feels extremely dated. Some animations are still stiff and not as smooth as players would desire them to be. This reduces players’ gaming experience.
